Man-made global warming post from a brit

This is from a well know (and criticized) British writer. Funny.

2008 was the year man-made global warming was disproved

Looking back over my columns of the past 12 months, one of their major themes was neatly encapsulated by two recent items from The Daily Telegraph.

The first, on May 21, headed "Climate change threat to Alpine ski resorts" , reported that the entire Alpine "winter sports industry" could soon "grind to a halt for lack of snow". The second, on December 19, headed "The Alps have best snow conditions in a generation" , reported that this winter's Alpine snowfalls "look set to beat all records by New Year's Day".

Easily one of the most important stories of 2008 has been all the evidence suggesting that this may be looked back on as the year when there was a turning point in the great worldwide panic over man-made global warming. Just when politicians in Europe and America have been adopting the most costly and damaging measures politicians have ever proposed, to combat this supposed menace, the tide has turned in three significant respects.

First, all over the world, temperatures have been dropping in a way wholly unpredicted by all those computer models which have been used as the main drivers of the scare. Last winter, as temperatures plummeted, many parts of the world had snowfalls on a scale not seen for decades. This winter, with the whole of Canada and half the US under snow, looks likely to be even worse. After several years flatlining, global temperatures have dropped sharply enough to cancel out much of their net rise in the 20th century.

Ever shriller and more frantic has become the insistence of the warmists, cheered on by their army of media groupies such as the BBC, that the last 10 years have been the "hottest in history" and that the North Pole would soon be ice-free – as the poles remain defiantly icebound and those polar bears fail to drown. All those hysterical predictions that we are seeing more droughts and hurricanes than ever before have infuriatingly failed to materialise.

Even the more cautious scientific acolytes of the official orthodoxy now admit that, thanks to "natural factors" such as ocean currents, temperatures have failed to rise as predicted (although they plaintively assure us that this cooling effect is merely "masking the underlying warming trend", and that the temperature rise will resume worse than ever by the middle of the next decade).

Secondly, 2008 was the year when any pretence that there was a "scientific consensus" in favour of man-made global warming collapsed. At long last, as in the Manhattan Declaration last March, hundreds of proper scientists, including many of the world's most eminent climate experts, have been rallying to pour scorn on that "consensus" which was only a politically engineered artefact, based on ever more blatantly manipulated data and computer models programmed to produce no more than convenient fictions.

Thirdly, as banks collapsed and the global economy plunged into its worst recession for decades, harsh reality at last began to break in on those self-deluding dreams which have for so long possessed almost every politician in the western world. As we saw in this month's Poznan conference, when 10,000 politicians, officials and "environmentalists" gathered to plan next year's "son of Kyoto" treaty in Copenhagen, panicking politicians are waking up to the fact that the world can no longer afford all those quixotic schemes for "combating climate change" with which they were so happy to indulge themselves in more comfortable times.

Suddenly it has become rather less appealing that we should divert trillions of dollars, pounds and euros into the fantasy that we could reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by 80 per cent. All those grandiose projects for "emissions trading", "carbon capture", building tens of thousands more useless wind turbines, switching vast areas of farmland from producing food to "biofuels", are being exposed as no more than enormously damaging and futile gestures, costing astronomic sums we no longer possess.

As 2009 dawns, it is time we in Britain faced up to the genuine crisis now fast approaching from the fact that – unless we get on very soon with building enough proper power stations to fill our looming "energy gap" - within a few years our lights will go out and what remains of our economy will judder to a halt. After years of infantile displacement activity, it is high time our politicians – along with those of the EU and President Obama's US – were brought back with a mighty jolt into contact with the real world.

A sad Christmas song

Have you ever heard the song "Christmas Shoes"? It is about a little boy who wants to buy a pair of shoes for his mommy who might die that night. Very sad. Probably the saddest song I ever heard. EVER. Why would you write such a sad song on such a happy occasion!? It hurts...:(

Here is the youtube link. Got a tissue?

Camping

Yup. You read right. I went camping. Bet you wish YOU went also. Heh heh heh. Well, it wasn't as cold as I thought it might be. Although, it was down in the teens last night and this morning. That was cold. The fire was warm. The rain was freezing. The other campers were non-existent. The police officer thought we were crazy camping there "so late in the season". He mocked our grape soda and Dr.Thunder. I found a log throne. I was happy. I slept warm. Two mummy bags will do that. I ate steak cooked over a campfire. We played Solarquest for hours. Finally read the EXACT rules word for word. We had been playng wrong ALL THIS TIME! It was good. Want some pics? I forgot my camera. Sorry.

Fall...Fallen leaves...Fun Fun Fun

I remember fall in Arizona. The needles in the cactus changing colors...falling down to the ground...raking them up and jumping into the huge pile of pain.

OK. Not really. But Utah seems to actually have seasons. The leaves in the backyard have fallen.

Here is some backyard funzies!

Halloween and Such

We went t&t with everyone (Us, Heidi's, Kyle's,and Tami's). It didn't last very long. The little girls wussed out early. I wanted to go all night long. But for who really? For me just so I could raid Taylee's candy and have a large variety to choose from? Yeah. That's the truth. Shameful. So I was done when she was done. I am a big person. I can just BUY the candy I want. What makes the T&T candy so great? YOU EARN IT! So it tastes better in the end for some reason. Nothing was better than getting home at the end of a hard nights tricking and treating, dumping the contents of your pillow case treasure bag on the floor, taking a moment to glorify in your booty, and deciding what was going to be the FIRST piece to be offered as a sacrifice to the belly gods! Ah yes...good times indeed.

Here are some pics. Taylee and Jaxx had the Scooby-Do theme going on.

Freaky

So I wake up in the middle of the night, still in my chair...I look up and what do I see....TAYLEE standing in front of the TV!

"Taylee! Taylee! TAYLEE!"

"What Daddy?"

"Are you awake?"

Long pause....

"Yes"

"What are you doing?"

"It's OVER"

Um...scarey!

"Whats over?"

"YOU ARE!"

WHAT?! My crazy daughter is going to kill me!

"I'm over?"

"NO. The show is done and I messed up the tv. YOU need to put in a new movie for me."

"NO. It's late. GO...TO...BED!"

"OK"

That was freaky...

I think it would be fun if the ones who have passed on could have a blog. Or at least comment on our blogs. The thought of it makes me laugh.

A post that is too long

I think I should post a really long story...a true one...maybe one that is just me typing out thoughts. But is would be really long. Would that be really wrong? Would anyone read such a thing? I wonder...

INSOMNIA

Why. Why. Why. I hate not being able to sleep. I try several things. Nothing works. My skin crawls as I lay me down to sleep. I feel antsy. My legs ache. I can't get comfortable. So here I am. Nights like these come frequently for me lately. I would catch up on political stuff, but it is all a bunch of BS this close to an election. (It's all BS all the time anyway) I want to play a game, but nothing amuses me just now. I would read, but that means sitting still which I have problems with. I would watch TV, but there is nothing good on. I could eat, but I would just feel full and sick afterward. The list is endless. AND YET...I do nothing. I stare.

Still staring...

Still staring...

I looked up the definition...Here it is...
1.to gaze fixedly and intently, esp. with the eyes wide open

Still staring...

Dan, guess what...I love Chelcie...LOL

Walmarts Snickers and 3 musketeers

Just in case you were wondering...

Walmart Snickers & 3 Musketeers Packaging Mystery Solved,
We learned of this last night when no one knew what the deal was with these stark Snickers and 3 Musketeers wrappers at Walmart. Thanks to the magic of the Internet, now that we're ready to post about it, the mystery may have been solved.
The packaging looked not only simple, but as many in the blogosphere noted, strangely soviet, especially with the single star. Was this some cold war throwback? Was it part of the branding for the Olympics? No one knew.

As it turns out, it is in fact just nostaligic packaging, no bigger story. The look goes back to their original 1930's wrapper - the single star turns out to be the original Mars logo.
Mars and Walmart could have made this more clear, not only clearing up confusion but driving sales because they are sort of cool now that we know what's up.

Reeses Whoppers

So gooood. I used to occasionally endulge in the mini boxes of Reeses Whoppers since they only came in the mini-me 98 cent boxes. Behold....They have acheived the status of "The BIG box". Mix the originals with these ones. Yummm

IT'S BACK!!!!

Starting Monday the 14th new episodes of Avatar The Last Airbender will be on Nick. AWESOME! I have been waiting for sooo long. For those of you who have never seen this cartoon...I am sorry. You are missing out! This is by far my favorite show on TV. Even if it is a cartoon. It's funny, has great action, lots of dry humor (my favorite), chases, escapes, fencing, fighting, war, revenge, true love, giants, monsters, elemental bending...you get the idea. And you can watch it with the whole family. Watch it from the begining. IT ROCKS! Check out the video bar to the right------>

The Uhaul move

Driving up to Utah was not an easy journey. The 12 hour drive took 19 hours. Just north of Panguitch on the 20 I ran into a snow storm. Nothing like a blizzard to keep you from progressing. I had to park the uhaul at the top of the mountain . I was sliding on the way up and I was worried I would roll off the cliff on the way down. A sheriff came by after about two hours. He said the June snow storm was the worst he had seen in 30 years. We said the snow plows had to have the cobwebs brushed off of them and they would be by in a few hours. Eventually the plows came and we were off only to be stopped by a truck stuck going up hill. What a crazy trip!

The uhaul web site says that the 26' truck gets 6-8 miles per gallon. LIES!!! I got 4 miles per gallon. What a crock! I hate uhaul and their lies. The trip from Queen Creek AZ to West Jordan Utah cost me $475 dollars. Ouch.

Bottom line...Uhaul lies and gas is expensive. Moving sucks.

Beware: Graphic post...Don't say I didn't warn you!

One last chance....Squeamish look away

Gross

I believe that there is no subject that should be blocked to discussion. The sharing of ideas and experiences are critical for growing and enriching our lives. The more we find out, the better off we will be. The knowledge that one of us has may help someone else. The stories shared by someone may help you someday in the course of your life. You may think back and say, "I remember Jeremy telling me about his situation and mine seems very similar. Good thing I read his blog!" LOL ah yes...good times indeed.

Well, it is moving time. Lots to do and no time left. One day to get it all done. That is why my situation couldn't have come at a worse time. I have recently discovered that I am getting old. Last week I found an ear hair that was actually getting long. So sad. I pulled that sucker out so quick I almost poked out my eyeball. "I'm too young for this!" I thought as I tried to shake the renegade ear hair off my finger. So you could imagine my dismay when I started feeling a bit of "discomfort" in the seat of my pants. Well, here is the gross part...You will say to yourself "TMI!" if you continue to read. So I am wiping my booty crack and discover a small bulge that is very painful to the touch. I think to myself, "Is that my intestines coming out?! Did I lift something to heavy?! Why?!" It is really crappy (No pun intended) because my medical insurance ran out yesterday. Figures. So I go online to find out what this could possibly be. One big fat word describes my symptoms...Hemorrhoids. Yeah. I really AM old. I feel I am starting the downward spiral that is old age. This could not come at a worse time. In two days I will be sitting in a truck for 12 hours..bouncing and bumping around. *sniff* So So Sad.

The whole point to telling this story and completely embarrassing myself was to amuse you all, maybe get some sympathy, and above all, some advice. What is the best way to deal with it?! I can't be alone in this. Some of you HAD to have had this issue before. Don't be lying now. I KNOW you have.

Well, that's all for now. Sorry for having to open up LOL for all of you. I hope someone at least got a laugh out of this. I know I did. That is was I get for making fun of all the people who had them when I was younger. I guess my hair is the next thing to go!

Jeremy OUT!

Anything to lower gas costs!

So I was watching a news program about how to lower gas prices. I am all for doing EVERYTHING to accomplish that and stick it to opec! I love the idea of the new "NANO" technology for solar power. I always thought that would be the best idea for around these parts. I am not sure about the Washington state area. Maybe they could run their cars off rain water!

Have the Myth Busters done any show on the ways you can conserve gas? Like keeping your gas tank full or not going above 55mph or not running your A/C.

The stress that comes with moving

So I thought I would be able to move last week. Yeah right. That wasn't possible due to taking care of the kids, sorting, packing, breaking down, slacking, eating, sleeping, breathing, "The Garage", and all that good stuff. What was I thinking?! So I reserved the Uhaul (I know. Scary.) and we will be driving to West Jordan on Wednesday June 4th and I will be flying back on Tuesday June 10th. Then Chelcie and I will be driving the cars up and staying at the very end of July.

FRUITNUTS!

DEFINITION-en·vi·ron·men·tal·ist- Any person who advocates or works to protect the air, water, animals, plants, and other natural resources from pollution or its effects.

I believe this definition should be changed to-en·vi·ron·men·tal·ist- Any person who thinks animals, plants, and bugs are more important than  the human species and feel the earth would be better off without humans.

One word for them....PATHETIC!

Moving costs more than I remember

So Today we went and bought moving boxes from Costco. $49.99 for 25 boxes. That hurts. I don't remember ever paying for boxes. They are cheaper than bins, but it still is expensive. I will need more eventually and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions on where to get more.
